I stand steadfastly against war and violence, and have spoken out about the social, political, and cultural issues of Sri Lanka. An important focus of my art is human rights, children, and environmental issues. I am a green artist.

Hello, my name is Angela and I love making drawings and 2D animations. I also like sewing and embroidery, and cooking is also art to me. I also love exploring the world in front of my eyes, and this gives me inspiration for the works I create.

For my plan of “Seeing is Selecting,” by observing the mutual humanity, history, and customs of Aso, I will create graphics, pictures, and objects. I hope to deconstruct existing things and express a record of their deconstruction.

I want to explore the vibrations and sounds I hear in Aso. I feel close to the city of Aso, with its active volcano and deep geological history. I think it will be very interesting how I speak and record with various people.

私は、自身の創作過程を、自分の周りの世界を理解するための探求と試みだと考えています。

私の作品は、作品を作る土地に対する深い気持ちと自然環境で起こっていることから生まれてきます。素材自体が持つ変化するという性質に惹かれ粘土を使っての創作活動を選びました。この素材は、緩やかに加える力で無限に扱え、形造ることができ、焼成プロセスを経て固い存在や彫刻に変化を遂げます。こうやって生まれた作品は、何千年もの間、生き続け、時と歴史を記録できるものになります。

My work comes from a deep sense of place and what occurs in the natural environment. I chose to work with clay for it’s transformational nature from a material that can be endlessly recycled and shaped by gentle pressure and yet through the firing process becomes an inert object or sculpture, able to survive and record time and history for thousands of years.
